The founders

The Well is co-founded by Jo and Phil Blaydes, who have pulled from each of their strengths to create something genuinely special.

Jo spent a decade working for wellbeing brands before retraining as a Holistic Facialist with Spell Holistic. She's focused on the wellbeing of her clients as much as their skin, an approach that runs through everything at The Well. Phil has always been drawn to old buildings. After studying Building Surveying, he's spent years uncovering the stories they hold. The Well has already revealed many of its own.

Together, they've created something that reflects both of them: considered, rooted, and made with real care. A new chapter for their young family, laying down roots in a town they love, and a quiet ambition to build something that gives back. To their guests. To the community. To the town itself.

The house

The Well is a painstakingly restored Victorian townhouse in St Leonards-on-Sea. The founders have spent years uncovering what was already there, the original details, the materials, the character that modern renovation so often erases.

The restoration story is still unfolding. Follow it in the journal.

Community

Jo and Phil are building something with roots in St Leonards, a programme of events, gatherings and community moments that bring people together around the things The Well does best.

Supper clubs

Occasional evenings at The Well - long tables, seasonal food, new faces. Open to guests and the wider community.

Gatherings & parties

The house is designed for people coming together. From intimate celebrations to larger gatherings, it lends itself to moments that matter

Art & culture

St Leonards has a rich creative community. The Well plans to be part of it, hosting artists and opening its doors to the town.
